'Imagining Tulketh Hall'

This is the final part of my film about the history of Tulketh Hall in Preston. I hope it also serves to raise awareness of the current campaign to save this historic site from development. It also looks quite hopefully at the site of another historic hall in Grange Park, Preston, whose footprint and archaeology were uncovered in the late 1990s. It’s been done before then! This is a film to capture details of the last few years of the hall’s existence, the part that is just still within living memory. It was only after the making of the earlier film that I received permission from Historic England to use photographs of the hall taken on 31st of March 1959, just a few months before its demolition. The hall, as it looks in these images, is still within the living memory of some local residents. For those of us who were born later or were not in Preston as children, the hall and its actual position on the site is something we have to try hard to imagine. I hope that this film, by using maps alongside these few precious Historic England photos, can make the imagining of Tulketh Hall much easier. And also that we can look to Ribbleton Hall as a hopeful precedent for Tulketh!!
