In short, these are terrific wines. 80 - 89: A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws. 70 - 79: An average wine with little distinction except that it is a soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine. 60 - 69: A below average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/or tannin, an absence of flavor or possibly dirty aromas or flavors. 50 - 59: A wine deemed to be unacceptable. The Wine Spectator is one of the – if not the - most widely distributed wine magazines in the world and they are putting together a Top 100 list each year. They don’t just include the highest-rated wines in that list, instead, they select wines based on the following factors - quality, value, availability, and excitement – whatever those mean. The list normally includes wines that are widely available and that are supposed to be good. Leon selected a bunch of wines below 30$ and I will blind taste them, try to identify them, and rate them for you so that you get the selection of the selection the crème de la crème, the best of the best, the pick of the litter… well, lets taste.
