November 27 1998 Alaskan native Trajan Langdon has the unique opportunity in playing in front of his hometown crowd in the Alaskan Shootout, in which he leads the #1 Duke Blue Devils with 26 points in a victory over the unranked but unafraid Fresno State Bulldogs to advance to the in-season tournament championship. Langdon grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and starred in both baseball and basketball. In the state championship game, Langdon struck out 11 batters. He was selected in the 6th round of the 1994 MLB Draft by the Padres, but never played higher than A-Ball as he focused on his basketball career. Langford spent 3 years in the NBA, followed by nearly a decade overseas and the CBA/ABA. He currently is the General Manager of the New Orleans Pelicans, working under executive VP David Griffin. Trajan is the first Alaska native to play in the NBA, and a member of the crowd, a senior in high school named Carlos Boozer became the second, who also attended Duke.
