Imelda's photograph on computer monitor STORYLINE: Imelda Marcos, the former first lady of the Philippines, who once impressed and entertained the world with her extensive shoe collection, is set to embark on a new project - her very own fashion collection. The 77-year-old grandmother and widow of dictator Ferdinand Marcos took time out on Monday to talk to reporters in between photo shoots for brochures that will launch "The Imelda Collection" of fashion jewelry and accessories later this month. Lying on a divan in a Manila hotel's seaside garden, Marcos modelled several necklaces, rings and bracelet sets, some of fake tiger eye stones, others made of reddish birthstone for the brochure. The jewelry, made mostly out of recycled items she herself designed or created, is her grandson's idea, Marcos said, and will make up the collection that will be up for sale. "One day my grandson came to me and said, Mama Meldy I would like to use your collection to tell the world the real Imelda, who is Imelda," she said. The family has yet to set a date for the official launch of the collection.
