Gen Rigpa shares Buddha's suggestion that we do daily breathing meditation. Our breathing and our state of mind are directly and closely linked. Conscious breathing is great mindfulness training and with consistent and patient application, it can serve to relax our mind and our nervous system. If we breathe gently & consciously, paying attention to our inhalation and exhalation as air enters and exits through our nostrils, this action increases both our physical and mental well being. Gen Rigpa also suggests that we breathe diaphragmatically (belly breathing) rather than breathing from our shoulders or upper chest.
