TMNT: Hyperstone Heist - Hard No Death Clear (Cowabunga Collection)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection has finally arrived. If you haven't heard about it, Konami and Digital Eclipse put together a compilation of just about all of the classic TMNT games, from arcade, to console, and even the Game Boy. They've included some enhancements for some of the games as well. It's a nice follow up to Shredder's Revenge. Hyperstone Heist is the Genesis' "answer" to Turtles in Time. It's not as well known as TiT, and that's probably because it feels low budget in comparison. It recycles graphics, enemies, bosses, and music from not only TiT, but the original arcade game as well. It has some unique content, most notably the Japanese stage and its boss, Tatsu. The balance is a bit different, too, with the biggest difference probably being with the slam throw. It doesn't instantly kill every enemy it touches any more, but it's still insanely strong anyway. Some enemies and bosses behave a little differently too, but it's basically just small tweaks here and there. In the original game on the Genesis, your third button was used for run, instead of the attack+jump macro in SNES TiT. That made the game control a bit better, but since the Cowabunga Collection adds that function to Turtles in Time, this game loses the control advantage when comparing them. It's still a fun game though, even if it kinda feels like a romhack. A no death run basically comes down to how well you know the last stage. It has no healing items at all and goes on for quite a bit, so if you're not careful you'll eventually get whittled down through attrition. The Stone Warriors are probably the most dangerous enemies here, but you can just play safe by dive kicking them a bunch of you really want to. I try to bunch them up and get a full death combo on them, but it can be hard when they're dashing all over the place. I'm playing the PC version, which has a stuttering issue at the moment. It's pretty frustrating trying to record a decent run, then it just starts chugging along. What's really annoying is that the first time I finished a no death run, I didn't get any stutters at all, but I wanted to record a cleaner run since I barely knew what I was doing on the early stages lol. Then the game would stutter in every single attempt after that. So if you're interested in playing this, I'd recommend buying it on console for now. I hope they fix the PC version soon. Chapters: 0:00 Cowabunga Collection 0:23 Title / Intro 2:02 Scene 1 - New York City 9:43 Scene 2 - A Mysterious Ghost Ship 18:02 Scene 3 - Shredder's Hideout 25:20 Scene 4 - The Gauntlet 32:14 Scene 5 - The Final Shell Shock 44:33 Ending & Credits I'm slowly working my way through this collection. I'll probably play Tournament Fighters next. I've never uploaded a fighting game clear before, so I guess this'll be the first one. ----- Beat 'em Ups (e.g. Final Fight):    • Beat 'em Ups   2D Action (e.g. Metal Slug):    • 2D Action   STG/Shmups (e.g. Dodonpachi):    • STG Replays
