(bandcamp release here: https://spacetown.bandcamp.com/album/...) this album was recorded in one take on 1/17/2022, comprising material composed since july 2021 to december 2021 and was not pre-arranged in any way, with minimal processing in post for the curious - the left M8 is handling all of my percussion and the right M8 is handling all of the synth patterns. i'm running the right M8 kind of like an ableton session view set, where I'm picking individual patterns to play and figuring out on the fly which patterns sound good together, while adjusting various aspects (mostly filter cutoffs) of the synth parts using the MIDI controller. it's laid out such that each column contains patterns of a specific "type" (bass, lead, etc). the left M8 has mostly arranged percussion loops, but for transitions I often mix up the patterns to blend aspects of one percussion loop into another the knob layout is thus: top 8 knobs handling filter cutoffs for all the instruments in each column respectively; knob 9 handles kick drum level, knobs 10-13 handle levels of the rest of the percussion patterns except for hi-hats, knobs 14-15 handle my short and long hi-hat decay amounts respectively, and knob 16 is mapped to the DJ filter cutoff, starting at the default value of 80 and ending at the high-pass amount of FF. i'm hoping to make this kind of release more often - i haven't performed live in quite some time and i quite like the spontaneity of these livesets performed at home thanks for listening hardware used: Dirtywave M8 x 2, Intech Studio PO16, Retrokits RK-006
