Controversial new sporting event allowing banned drugs | 7NEWS Spotlight

It’s Olympic Games – on steroids. A controversial new competition where elite athletes put their bodies on the line, using the drugs banned by the International Olympic Committee to make them stronger and faster. While the Olympics are supposed to be drug free, most Aussie athletes will tell you they’ve knowingly gone up against competitors using performance enhancing drugs and that the practice is rife. The Enhanced Games, a new, annual televised event created by Aron D’Souza and his billionaire investors, will encourage doping by athletes and promises to smash world records by pushing the human body to its drug-fuelled limit. International athletes will compete for themselves across only five disciplines – track and field, swimming, gymnastics, combat and weightlifting – with huge cash rewards on offer. We're poolside with Australian Olympic champion James “The Missile” Magnussen, the first athlete to sign up to The Enhanced Games and once the fastest man in the water, to see firsthand how his training regime is going. While Olympic legends Raelene Boyle and Leisel Jones share their views.
