No matter how much I close the air intake, it still burns out of control. The fire is RICH in Fuel (wood) but low on air so it burps up cloudy smoke through my chimney due to poor fuel/air mixture. This can contribute to creosote buildup, aside from just an out of control burn. This is no different than how a carburetor works. Today, we add a simple flue damper (or updraft regulator flap) to the flue pipe and get back control of the fire!
