Print Marketing for Commercial Photography: Part 1: Marketing Essentials

Before you begin marketing, you have to develop a strategy. My strategy is a combination of social media, networking and print promotions. This video will focus primarily on the print promotions portion of my marketing. To begin developing your strategy, try narrowing your quote. Ask yourself these questions. ✅ What is my photographic specialty? ✅ What is my visual style and unique brand? ✅ What companies/brands would appreciate the unique elements I have to offer? Don't try to be everything to everyone. I will discuss style and specialization in a future video series, for now try your best to pinpoint your strengths as a photographer and stick with one thing. Here is how I narrow my target clients to focus my marketing efforts: 📢 I do my research and make a list of approximately 20 dream clients. 😍 Much of my research comes from a database called Agency Access (link below), which is a directory of brands, magazines and advertising agency contacts. Next, I add another 20-30 possible clients to the list. Not ‘dream clients’, but ones that I think may still be a good fit for my brand, style and specialization. In the end, for this list of 50 or less, I try to make one point of contact for marketing per month. This is a combination of emails, mailers, phone calls, and other marketing (specifically print promotions).
