Out of this, 61.679 kms across 3 lines (priority corridors) with 45 stations were approved by India’s Central Government for construction on March 7, 2019. The Gold Line’s length was increased in October 2020, making the entire project 65.1 km long. The Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 (Phase IV), has been planned to provide last-mile connectivity to the new housing hubs in the National Capital Region (NCR). Initially, the completion deadline was set as 2022 and the work on the project was expected to begin in 2017. Work on Phase 4 finally began on December 30, 2019, with a ground-breaking ceremony for piling work for stations along the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor, being held at Haider Badli Mor. The 104-km Delhi Metro Phase 4 network, is expected to cater to 1.5 million passengers daily, when fully completed. The route is expected to finish by December 2024. The Delhi Metro Phase 4 project covers three approved corridors, Maujpur to Majlis Park, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, and Tughlakabad to Aerocity, spanning a total length of around 65 kms. In March 2024, the central government approved the addition of 2 corridors totaling 20.76 km, taking Phase 4’s length to 85.86 km. This includes the 12.377 km Inderlok – Indraprastha extension of the operational Green Line and 8.385 km Lajpat Nagar – Saket G Block line. Delhi Metro Gold Line The 24-km from Tughlakabad to Aerocity is referred to as the Delhi Metro Silver Line located on the Delhi Airport Express Line. It is expected to be completed by 2026. A 100-metre subway will be built to link the existing station at Tughlakabad to the new interchange station. Once operational, the gold line corridor, with the interchange station, is expected to boost connectivity in far-flung areas of Faridabad and reduce to travel time in reaching domestic and international airport terminals via the Airport Express Line to around 90 minutes. Delhi Metro Brown line The DMRC has decided to build two additional metro lines in Delhi NCR – Silver Line and Brown Line. The Silver Line will connect north Delhi with Aerocity while the Brown Line will provide connectivity in South Delhi and will a shorter section than other lines in region such as the Pink Line and Magenta Line. The Brown Line, from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, will be connected to the Pink Line, Magenta Line and Violet Line. The station at Saket G Block will connect with the new Silver Line, which is currently under construction. The Brown Line is expected to be completed by 2025. The Brown Line Stations include: Lajpat Nagar – Connected with Violent Line, Pink Line Andrews Ganj Greater Kailash 1 Chirag Delhi – Connected with Magenta Line Pushpa Bhawan Saket District Centre Pushp Vihar Saket G Block – Connected with Silver Line The Brown line is expected to boost connectivity to South Delhi and will be connected to other metro lines such as Pink Line, Magenta Line and Violet Line. Red Line extension: Rithala – Narela Length– 21.73 km No. of stations– 15 Proposed route: Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Rohini Sector 37, Barwala, Put Khurd, Bawana Industrial Area – 1, Bawana Industrial Area – 2, Bawana, Bawana JJ Colony, Sanpath, New Sanath Colony, Depot Station, Bhorgarh Village, Anaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela Current status: It’s pending for approval by the union cabinet. This corridor might be built as a Metrolite Blue Line extension: Noida Sector 62 – Sahibabad Length: 5.1 km No. of stations: 5 Proposed route: Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhra Sector 5, Sahibabad (interchange) Current status: DPR was sent to the Uttar Pradesh government for approval #delhimetro #DelhiMetro #delhimetroviralvideo #delhimetrophase4 #delhimetronews
