Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered his assassination, leading to a carefully planned operation by the elite military unit Sayeret Matkal in Tunis, where Abu Jihad lived. The commandos used surveillance and smart tactics to reach his villa and successfully carried out the mission, even though they had an unexpected encounter with his wife.
