Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is an autonomous prefecture in eastern Jilin Province, China. Yanbian borders Heilongjiang Province to the north, Baishan City and Jilin City in Jilin to the west, North Hamgyong Province in North Korea to the south, and Primorsky Krai in Russia to the east. Yanbian is designated as a Korean Autonomous Prefecture due to the large number of ethnic Koreans living in the region. The capital of the prefecture is Yanji and the total area is 42,700 square kilometers (16,500 square miles). The prefecture has an important archaeological site of Balhae: the ancient tombs on Longtou Mountain, including the mausoleum of Princess Jeonghyo. Adjacent to Yanji we find Yanji Korean Ethnic Minority Minsuyuan. A park that reflects Korean culture. The design is approximately the same as the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Once a year during the festival, this park is filled with people wearing traditional Korean clothing. This festival is held in early September.
