Hello everybody its Foxy speaking and certainly is it a rare sighting for one to see the Hastings Diesel Thumper 1001 DEMU (Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit) service since it does not work on the mainline running mainline services for those of you who are not remotely familiar of it. The Hastings Diesel Thumper 1001 is originally a BR class 201 DEMU (Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit) which used to run passenger services working in the days of BR (British Railways) before their retirement which was in the 1980's with the very last of the class 201's retiring in 1986. There is only 1 class 201 that is preserved which is the 1001 unit which is the 'Hastings Diesel' as it is so known in our present day running mainline railtours sporadically on a Saturday from time to time at random times of the year running many interesting excursions up and down several places located within the comprised entirety of the United Kingdom as a whole. Hastings Diesels Limited is the independent rail touring company that has preservation of the BR class 201 being the 1001 that is the preserved Hastings Diesel that has been mentioned in this very video. But yes in this video this features me 'Foxy' watching and shooting videography footage of the Hastings Diesel Thumper 1001 at Redhill Railway Station whilst it was running 'The Surrey Hills Surprise' railtour on a freezing frozen cold Saturday 6th January 2024 which was certainly well worth seeing as the Hastings Diesel when running its railtour excursion is always wonderful to see come rain or shine.
