If Phylicia Rashad was America's Mom in the 80s and 90s, then Daphne Maxwell Reid was undoubtedly America's Aunt. Daphne played Aunt Vivian in #TheFreshPrinceofBelAir for the latter half of the shows run (1993-1996) and she sat down with Reel School to share her wonderful experiences on the show, and tell us all about the #FreshPrinceReunion - coming to HBO Max on Thursday November 19th. The #FreshPrince celebrated it's 30th anniversary just last month, which seems absolutely unfathomable, but Daphne share with us why she thinks it has such staying power; it was a wonderful 'delightful' show (in her words) but it dealt with important subject matter, and was a wonderful mirror to African-American culture in 90s. Daphne talks about the amazing writing, the superb cast, how she didn't even bother auditioning for the show when she was offered the opportunity, and her on-screen partner, the amazing James Avery.
