Vol Biv from Stubai to Bruneck

My first vol from Kreuzjoch in Stubaital to Olang-Antholz (near Brunkeck) in the Pustertal over two days, it involved crossing the Stubai glaciers, the main alpine ridge and some cheating using a train and bus to cross the Brenner pass after making an early landing on the first day. The first day was challenging due to the cloudbase being lower than anticipated and the large amount of snow still present up high damping the thermal development. Unfortunately this meant I didn't make it to the highway along the Pustertal (by just 50m!), and had to land out Grossensaß. Due to the Nordföhn forecast the next day, I was pretty sure that no flying would be happening near the Brenner, so took the train to Mühlbach and camped in Vals. The second day had a much stronger Nordföhn than forecast, so instead of flying from just above my campsite, I flew from Gitsch, where there was a lot of cloud in the morning which meant a delayed start, but the winds were still good when the cloudbase had lifted. The flight was a flight of two halves, the first was battling with being low and either shaded out areas or lots of tiny punchy thermals which were not useful. As I was planning my landing I found a thermal and climbed up to over 3000m, but at this altitude the Northföhn was strong and gusty, which combined with the strong lift left me feeling uncomfortable so I made the decision to go and land near Bruneck. It was a great adventure and it was wonderful to not be constrained by how to get back to the car, as due to having a tent I could just fly where I wanted and sleep where I needed to be for the next day.
