The chants are recorded in Tsalka, Sameba village, Cross monastery using the mobile recording studio. The current CD includes recordings of “Lord, I have cried (both plain and ornamented versions),” “Glory Now and” (III-IV tones), and stichera from St. George the Hagiorite’s Octoechos. These melodies (III-IV tones) are introduced from XIX-XX century notated manuscripts. The stichera on “Lord, I have cried” are being chanted among the verses of the psalm “Set a guard, O Lord” (Psalms 140, 141, 129, 116). The liturgical rule considers the antiphonal performance (an antiphonal style means a mutually responsive, or call-and-response singing style). Audio recordings are attached to the third volume of the “Hymnographical Collection.” The first part of the collection presents the scientifically established critical text of the third and fourth tone stichera from the manuscripts of Octoechos of St. George the Hagiorite’s edition, and the second part contains the musical attachment prepared on the basis of St. Philemon the Chanter’s (Koridze), St. Ekvtime the Confessor’s (Kereselidze), St. Polievktos Karbelashvili, and Archpriest Razhden Khundadze’s manuscripts. The third volume of the “Hymnographical Collection” was prepared for publication at the Sameba village Cross Monastery in the Tsalka region. The editor of this edition is Edisher Chelidze, a Doctor of Philology and Theology; the musical editor is Malkhaz Erkvanidze, a Doctor of Social Sciences and ethnomusicologist.
