The introduction of dicamba- and 2,4-D-tolerant soybeans offers producers another option for controlling herbicide-resistant weeds, as well as other difficult-to-control weeds. When either of these two herbicides are applied in conventional spray equipment that will also be used to apply other pesticides, there is the possibility that sprayer contamination can result in injury to sensitive crops. This presentation provides results from the first year of a study that is designed to determine just how serious this injury can be if spray equipment is not properly cleaned, as well as how to best clean spray equipment that is used to apply these herbicides.
