"Monarcas" is a dance and music production by Calpulli Mexican Dance Company that brings together short stories seeking to illuminate the contributions, successes, and sacrifices by Mexican immigrants to the USA. Calpulli tells stories entirely through the universal language of movement specifically folkloric dance, dance theater, and music. Inspired by the voyage of the monarch butterfly (mariposa monarca) whose life is fueled by the dream of a better future, the heroes of "Monarcas" inspire us all.
