My Mother's Mother - original music and lyrics by Georgia Reichard Performed at The Tank NYC as part of "The Space Between" - a new works showcase of art exploring communication between generations. I wrote this song to explore the experience of growing up being told how much I look and act like multiple generations of women in my family, but eventually realizing I was non-binary. Feeling as if I cut off their legacy with my own departure from their expectations, and dealing with how to approach the idea of coming out to my extended family, knowing they will not understand.
