Presentation given at the annual conference for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts in 2019 held in Minneapolis, MN. For more information please visit: www.nceca.net Presentation by Jim Connell This lecture will explore the various historic facts, legends, and myths surrounding the origin of tea in China. The first teapots made in the village of Yixing, the exportation of tea and the teapot to Asia, Europe, and the world, and its impact on the social and intellectual life will be explained.
