Transforming OLD Bathroom Cabinets to NEW SHAKER STYLE Cabinets | DIY FAUX Shaker Doors | NO Router

Modernizing the look of our bathroom by updating cabinet doors and drawers to a shaker style look with limited tools and budget. During our bathroom renovation, we explored various ideas to transform the existing cabinets. We considered having them redone or replaced but I was intrigued by what we could change on our own while saving money in the process. Since they were so old, we really didn’t have much to lose. In this video I share my experience and our experimental process of transforming our cabinets without specialized tools and a minimal budget. Our process began with deconstructing the old doors, seeing what there was to work with, and going from there. The trial-and-error approach definitely made this quite a challenging experience. However, it gave me the opportunity to learn SO many new things (a few more than I expected, like how to strip paint). Some of my take aways from this experience are that there are times when it’s worth investing in good quality materials and spending more time up front prepping (paint doesn’t hide as much as I thought it would). Overall, this was a very valuable experience and I love how the cabinets turned out. Measurements Used: Door rails and stiles width 2 ¼ in. Drawer rails width 1 ½ in. Drawer stiles width 2 ¼ in. (The lengths vary and depend on door/drawer size) Main Supplies Used: Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) – (1/4 in. X 2 ft. X 4 ft.) Square wooden dowel rods (3/8 in.) Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue Wood filler (I used a few different kinds) Sherwin Williams Extreme Block Oil-Based Primer/Sealer Sherwin Williams ProClassic Oil-Based Interior Paint (Color matched to PPG Blue Dolphin) Wooster PRO Foam Roller (4 ½ in.) (I briefly tried some others, but this was my favorite for this project) Foam Paint Brush ** This project left me with a lot of extra paint. So, if you want to see me attempt to turn it into art check out this video! **    • Using Leftover House Paint for Art | ...   https://www.epidemicsound.com/referra...
