Dr. Cook-Deegan will describes his involvement in the Sulston Project and its work to improve the system for interpreting genomic variants that confer inherited cancer risk, as well as reduce the number of VUS. This is a deeply biological problem, but the reasons that datasets are incomplete is tied to access to and participation in research as well as health care. Inherited cancer risk is an important, urgent, and challenging problem to solve, and the problem of under-inclusion is social and political, so we must work at both levels
