1957 Chrysler 300 C with a 375 hp 392 Hemi at the 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance.

The 300C represents the third year of the premium series of “letter cars” in the “personal luxury” class of automobiles produced from 1955 to 1965. The Chrysler 300 C was the lowest, newest, hottest, grand touring car available in the United States, bar none. All new from the torsion bars to the top of the car, it was not only five inches lower than the 1956, but more importantly, several inches lower than virtually all the competition. The 300C came with a 392 CID Firepower, Hemi V8 with two four-barrel carburetors, cast-iron headers, mechanical lifters, and a high compression ratio that belted out a mind-bending 375 hp at a time when most 48 family sedans had about 200 at best. While not campaigned in NASCAR, the 300C set the Flying Mile competition at Daytona Beach with a speed of 134 mph, and the 300C could reach 60 mph in less than eight seconds. The speedometer in this beautiful brute reads up to 150 mph. Only 1,918 coupes were built and this one has been restored to exacting standards and has won a AACA Senior National First Prize.
