Federer vs Nadal Forehand Analysis - Top Tennis Training

https://www.top-tennis-training.com/f... Federer vs Nadal Forehand Analysis - Top Tennis Training. In this video coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will break down the forehands of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Some of the main differences are: Federer uses an eastern forehand grip and Nadal uses semi western forehand. Federer and Nadl both start the swing with extension in the wrist. Federer starts preparing with his strings facing forwards and wrist laid back but less than Nadal. Nadal starts by pulling the racket head up which extends his wrist and it lays the wrist back more than Federer, the tip of the tennis racket is right above the grip. Nadal's racket then opens up to the sky slightly. This will give him more extension in the wrist. Federer's elbow is further away from his body in the preparation phase, whereas Nadal's elbow stays tucked into his side. Nadal keeps hold of the racket for longer than Federer, Nadal's non hitting hand comes right back with the racket. The major difference in the lag phase is the slight difference in the angle of the strings, this is due to the grip. The follow through and finish is very similar, the major difference is how loose Federer is on the finish compared to Nadal being a bit tighter and almost muscling the ball. Nadal likes to finish up over his head more often because his goal on many of his forehands is heavy topspin and the upwards swing path leads him to finishing over his head. Federer prefers to hit through the ball more so he uses the across the chest finish more often. Federer also tends to step in and use the neutral stance much more than Nadal because the neutral stance allows him to extend outwards and transfer his body weight into the shot whereas Nadal will use the open or semi open stance more because his power is being directed upwards to generate that topspin. #FedererForehand #NadalForehand #TennisForehand
