NEC Artist Diploma student and prize winner of Queen Elisabeth, Naumburg, Cassadó, and Johansen International Cello Competitions performs in Jordan Hall. #MusicMonday Sonata for Cello and Piano no 5 in D major, Op. 102 no 2 Composer: Ludwig van Beethoven Artists: Brannon Cho and Dina Vainshtein Born in 1994, Brannon Cho has performed as a soloist with several orchestras including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique Royale Liège, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, and the Pyeongchang Music Festival Orchestra under world-renowned conductors such as Stéphane Denève, Christian Arming, and Frank Braley. As an avid chamber musician, Cho has shared the stage with Christian Tetzlaff, Gidon Kremer, Philip Setzer, Stephen Williamson, Barbara Westphal, and went on a chamber music tour with Joshua Bell to New York City, London, Washington D.C., and Miami. His festival appearances include the Verbier Festival Academy, Kronberg Academy Masterclasses, Kronberg Academy “Chamber Music Connects the World”, Music@Menlo’s International Program, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Academy, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Encounters. Cho’s recent solo performance highlights include the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, Bargemusic Masterworks Series, and the Schubert Club of St. Paul. Next season, the Minnesota Orchestra, Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, among others, will feature Cho as a soloist. Cho received his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music under Hans Jørgen Jensen, and is now an Artist Diploma candidate at NEC, where he studies with Laurence Lesser. Cho plays on a rare cello made by Antonio Casini in 1668 in Modena, Italy.
