In this talk, Miguel looks at the story of his life through the lens of the dreams that guided him across the years. He explores the ways dreams can sometimes be used to evade facing our fears. He asks us to consider what happens when our romanticized ambitions turn out to be insufficient to fill the void that plagues us all? Miguel was born in poverty in Cuba before escaping to the land of plenty and growing up in Miami, where he worked for over a decade, before moving in 2022 to his dream city--Barcelona--where he now works as an IB English Literature & Language teacher at ASB. He loves to make use of figurative language--but what else would you expect from a literature teacher?!
