Cachemira is a project from Barcelona, Spain that has basically experienced two incarnations, one that didn't work, that of 2017's "Jungla" disco, and the other that works very well with the addition of Claudia Gonzalez Diaz to the bass to vocals: a graft that was never more apt than this, as the voice and bass skills of the Catalan take this "Ambos Mundos" (produced and distributed by the Italian label Heavy Psych Sounds) to another level. The album presents itself as a perfect hybrid between prog, hard rock and psychedelic rock influences; the band in some songs uses its native language, Spanish, to give that fun and creative touch to heavy rock themes. Opening track "Don't Look Back (To The Fire)" opens up a distorted radio standard, with the wah pedal giving that edgy edge to the song; the influences approach the classic Jimi Hendrix style, for a whirlwind of well-structured chords and the voice that fits the infernal background jam, for an energetic ride. Follows "Keep An Eye On Me", a rough and intense track in which the full-bodied groove of the bass starts a furious mechanism of the drums, for an incendiary vibration with punk hues; here too the biting guitar solo ignites a creepy instrumental carpet, completing a frenetic run. "Future's Sight" is one of the best songs, with a set of delicate rhythms and a remarkable harmony that reaches its highest point in the finale, on an epic and satisfying emotion. The album proceeds quickly on the notes of "Dirty Roads" with its impact rhythmic that shakes its precious instrumental shot, towards a monumental classic of the 60s, then, in its continuous succession of twists and turns, we find an artistic vein excellent blues. In "Mujer Vudù" instead there is a crazy change of course and the suggestive organ comes into play, which animates a relaxing piece; the Spanish cantata combines the psych rock rhythm and with delicacy, we let ourselves be lulled by the hot sun. Towards the end we focus on the suspended and overwhelming tempo of "Get Out (Turn Around)", a playful and sensational song, full of distortions and delicious moments. The same goes for "Coast To Coast", with its brisk tempo linking the band's past to free horizons, in a loving atmosphere. Finally, the title track closes the disc, with an expansive jam that leaves room in the final part for a more expressive and welcoming phase. Precursors such as Deep Purple or the contemporaries Lucifer could be cited endlessly, but it rarely happens that you do not feel low points in listening to an album which in this case, also thanks to its duration, manages to be extremely pleasant for the listener. 00:00 Don't Look Back (To The Fire) 04:33 Keep An Eye On Me 07:45 Future's Sight 12:45 Dirty Roads 18:04 Mujer Vudù 21:40 Get Out (Turn Around) 26:04 Coast To Coast 28:17 Ambos Mundos Claudia González Díaz - Bass / Vocals Gastón Lainé - Guitar / Backing Vocals Alejandro Carmona Blanco - Drums / Percussion
