How to Make a Beautiful Stall for Your Horse - Easier Stall Cleaning for You!

Want to know How to Make a Beautiful Stall for Your Horse while making it easier cleaning for you - and cheaper? One of the chores I like the least about keeping my horses at home is cleaning the stalls. It takes a lot of time, and if you’re using shavings or straw for your horses bedding - you have to spend a lot of time sifting through the bedding, and you still end up with a lot of waste. To me, this is so frustrating because wood shavings are not cheap! And shavings don’t absorb urine, and the urine just soaks though, making a huge wet spot in the stall. But I have found a really affordable option for bedding - which creates a super soft bed for my horse, and it is super SUPER easy to clean - wood pellets! Pelletized animal bedding is such a great option if you have a horse that likes to move around its stall a lot. My horse Timon destroys his stall. And this mixes the manure in with the bedding - meaning no nice easy piles to pick out. And I have to spend extra time searching for each little piece of manure. But with the wood pellets, I simply add a little bit of water, and the pellets turn into super fine sawdust that is super soft and fluffy, making a wonderful deep bed for Timon to lie down in. And there is also the cost savings. A bag of wood pellets cost $6 a bag where I live. And to fully bed down his stall, I use 5 bags. Then I only need to add a bag about once a week to replenish what I have removed. Versus if I use shavings - I need to use 3 bags of shavings to bed his stall, and then repeat this process every week. So lets look at it this way - 1 month of wood shavings vs 1 month of wood pellets: Wood Pellets - 8 Bags for a month = $ 48 Wood Shavings - 15 bags for a month = $120 The savings are clear. And not only do the pellets help me save money, but they also save time when cleaning out a stall, and the compact size of the bags saves space. I call this a triple win! I spend less time cleaning stalls, but my stalls are in great shape, leaving me more time to spend with my horses and not so much time cleaning up after them! I challenge you to give the pelleted bedding a try, I think once you do - you will be wondering why you have been doing it the ‘traditional way’ for so long! Happy Horsekeeping!
