This video gives an overview of the start-up process for pressure washers powered by a Honda GX engine. Before starting the unit, there are a few steps you'll need to complete. First and foremost, you’ll want to check the oil levels of both the pump and the engine. For the pump, you can check the level via the sight glass. If the oil is clear and the level is within an acceptable range, your pump should be ready for use. If the pump doesn’t have a sight glass, it means that it is a sealed unit and doesn’t require oil maintenance. For the engine, you can check the oil via the dipstick. Remove the dipstick from unit, wipe it off with a rag, and then re-insert it into the unit. If the level of the oil is about halfway up the dipstick, then engine should be ready for operation. Next, you will need to attach your garden hose and high-pressure hose. First, thread the garden hose into the inlet of the pump. This is the port without a quick-connect coupler on the end. Once this is done, attach the high-pressure hose to the outlet of the pump by pulling back the quick-connect collar and sliding the plug in. After the hoses are connected, it is important to check your fuel level. If you notice that the level is low, refill the tank with low-ethanol gasoline. We recommend using a funnel to minimize the risk of spillage and splashing. Once you have fueled the washer, attach your spray gun the end of the high-pressure hose. This is done via a quick-connect coupler at the end of the hose. After connecting the gun, turn the water on and pull the trigger of the spray gun to release any built-up air and debris. Ensure that you hold the trigger until you see a steady flow of water coming from the gun. Once this is done, attach a nozzle to the end of the gun via the quick-connect coupler. Now that the gun and hoses are attached, it’s time to look at the engine. First, turn the power switch to the “ON” position. Next, turn the fuel valve, choke, and throttle to the “ON” positions. Once the unit is up and running, ensure that you turn the choke to the “OFF” position to keep the unit running smoothly. If you are unsure of the position for any of these components, consult your user manual or see the video. Once all of these steps have been completed, hold the trigger of the gun down, brace the unit with your foot, and pull the recoil cord until the unit starts.
