In Uncasville, Connecticut, prior to Jaron Ennis' entrance into the ring on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, another undefeated welterweight faced the most challenging test of his career. Eimantas Stanionis effectively handled the movement and combination punching of the veteran welterweight Thomas Dulorme, ultimately earning a unanimous decision in their 12-round WBA elimination match. The judges, Tom Carusone (117-111), Frank Lombardi (116-112), and Steve Weisfeld (115-113), all awarded the co-feature bout to Lithuania's Stanionis. Stanionis, a 26-year-old with a record of 13-0 and 9 KOs, an Olympian from 2016, persistently pursued Dulorme throughout the contest and gradually wore him down, especially in the championship rounds. On the other hand, Puerto Rico's Dulorme suffered his second consecutive defeat, bringing his record to 25-5-1 (16 KOs). Dulorme, who has contended for junior welterweight and welterweight world titles, presented a significant challenge for Stanionis. He appeared sharp in his first fight with the respected Cuban trainer Ismael Salas in his corner, but Stanionis' relentless pressure depleted Dulorme towards the end of their battle. In the final round, the tough and powerful Stanionis connected with a right uppercut followed by a straight right in the middle minute. Although Dulorme endured these punishing blows and made it to the final bell, it was evident that Stanionis dominated the championship rounds. During the 11th round, Stanionis continued to stalk Dulorme and landed more punches. By this point, Dulorme had a cut around his left eye and seemed fatigued after sustaining a fast pace for the initial ten rounds. In the 10th round, Dulorme unleashed his hands, landing two right punches to Stanionis' head. A powerful right hand from Stanionis appeared to cause a cut around Dulorme's left eye later in the round. A left hook by Stanionis made Dulorme retreat just over two minutes into the ninth round. Dulorme's right to the side of Stanionis' head forced Stanionis to reset his footing in the final minute of the ninth round. In the eighth round, Stanionis connected with a left hook to Dulorme's head, followed by a left hook to Dulorme's body, which led to Dulorme holding Stanionis about 30 seconds before the round ended. During the seventh round, Dulorme put together a combination, landing effectively with just under a minute to go. Stanionis kept the pressure on Dulorme throughout the round, but Dulorme effectively fought from a defensive position. In the sixth round, a right from Dulorme to Stanionis' head caused Stanionis to lose balance early in the round. A solid jab from Stanionis pushed Dulorme back just after the midpoint of the sixth round. About 50 seconds into the fifth round, Dulorme and Stanionis exchanged left hooks. Stanionis managed to land a left hook to the head of Dulorme with approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds left in the fifth round. Stanionis' right punch to the side of Dulorme's head caused his legs to wobble just past the middle of the fourth round. Stanionis then followed up with a left hook, but Dulorme stood his ground and successfully fought his way out of that challenging moment. Approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds into the third round, a left hook delivered by Stanionis to the top of Dulorme's head captured Dulorme's attention. In the final minute of the third round, Dulorme's left punch to Stanionis' body found its mark. Towards the end of the third round, Stanionis connected with another left hook to Dulorme's head. In the second round, Stanionis forcefully pushed Dulorme to the canvas around 50 seconds into the round. Following the brief interruption, Stanionis' straight right punch found its target on Dulorme's head.
