In 1860 the Morrow Union school was built where the current Morrow Elementary School is located. It originally had four rooms but due to the growth of the town, two more rooms were added in 1868. In 1913 the Morrow Union School was torn down and the current school was built with eleven classrooms, an auditorium, indoor toilets and two indoor play rooms. In 1924 as basketball became more popular the school built a large frame gymnasium which stood until 1939 when it was demolished. The Morrow Union school was added onto four times. The first addition happened in 1936 when eight surrounding one-room school houses were closed and consolidated with the Union School. Additions were added again in 1938, 1951 and in 1964. The school was closed in 2009. The Fredericksburg one-room schoolhouse located on Mason Morrow Mill Grove Road was built in the early 1800s and was in use up until 1936. All that remains of the Fort Ancient School originally built in the mid 1800s is the schoolmasters house which still stands today. The original school was lost sometime after 1974. The Gum Grove one-room schoolhouse located on Gum Grove Road was built in the late 1800s. Not much is known about the school other than the fact that it is in disrepair and is in danger of being lost if repairs aren't made soon. The one-room school located on Whittaker Drive and Rochester was built in 1875 and is now used as a food pantry. Butlerville, the 1875 Atlas shows a school in the approximate area of the existing school. The original school was a two-story two room brick building with two teachers. The current Harlan Butlerville School was built in 1937, closed in 2009 and reopened in 2012. The original Pleasant Plains schoolhouse was built in the mid-1800s and demolished in 1913. The current schoolhouse was built in 1913 and in 1939 became part of the Goshen school district until it closed in 1954. It has been used as many things since the mid 50's and is now known as the Plain Folks Cafe. The former Oak Ridge one-room schoolhouse located at the corner of Morrow Roseberg and Maineville Roads was built in 1881 and last used as a school in 1936. Today it is being used as a beautiful home. With a long history of education in the area. Union school located along Maineville Road was built in the early 1920s and was in use up to 1937. The Maineville Academy opened in 1848 as a private school located near the present day fire station on Foster Maineville Road. It was considered an honor to graduate from the Academy and many students travelled from outside the village to attend. In 1901 a new two story red brick schoolhouse was built on the same site. This was known as the Maineville School and was used up until 1937 when it was demolished. In 1937 the Hamilton Township school was built on the east side of town as a consolidated school for the township. It was later known as the Hamilton Maineville elementary school.
