Hi everyone! I kept you all updated on Delft, so here's a EXTRA video with a brand new update! Since last Friday the 2nd of August 2024 the new tunnel at Delft has been opened. And I had the honor of driving through it on that same day! I have recorded the ride for you between Den Haag HS and Rotterdam. Since there the most work has been done. Enjoy the ride! 0:00 Den Haag HS Today we take a short ride to Rotterdam. The full ride is done in the Province of Zuid-Holland. We depart perfectly on time from Den Haag Hollands Spoor (HS). In the last video you've seen we have a faulty track after this station. This has now been fixed as well. 2:45 Den Haag Moerwijk Some people say it's a nice station, some say it's ugly. But you know what they say about taste! 3:35 Rijswijk We dive under for the station of Rijswijk without a stop of course. After this the new situation around Delft will get visible. In the old situation four tracks came together to two tracks. Now we'll have four tracks going on into Delft. 4:11 Delft Update! Time for a brand new update! As you can see all four tracks are now running into Delft. The outer two tracks are still under construction. As you can see not all the power lines are hanging yet. Construction on the route was also delayed for a week. The reason for that I don't know. But now we can enjoy the view of four tracks! 4:58 Permanent New Speed Limit Last time we had a temporary speed limit when running into Delft. This is now a permanent speed limit of 120km/h. But due to the fact there's another train running ahead of us we get to drive a little slower since the light signals show us other speed limits. 5:27 Entering New Tunnel If you look closely when entering the tunnel of Delft you can see the power lines are changing to power rails at the ceiling of the tunnel. The thought of that is that power rails don't need as much maintenance as the power lines. And that's perfect for tunnel situations. As we enter the station you can see the power rails even better. 6:14 Delft As we arrive at Delft you can see we arrive at the brand new platform. So we now have two platforms in use for both directions. But the outer two tracks are still under construction for a couple of weeks. Until then we have a few less trains per hour running at the line. After the summer the normal train schedule will be restarted. And at the new train schedule starting at the end of 2024 we'll even add more trains an hour to the schedule. For that Schiedam must be ready with four tracks as well. 6:56 Technical Drawings Delft and Delft Campus Here I'll show you some of the technical drawings from https://sporenplan.nl. This is the new situation when all work is done in just a few weeks. Tracks 1 and 3 will be normally used only by Intercity’s and tracks 2 and 4 will be used by sprinters. The reason for that is the sprinters will pass the junctions at Delft Campus with a maximum speed of 80km/h. You'll see why in a few minutes! 9:53 Delft Campus (Leaving Tunnel) Here's the new situation at Delft Campus. As you can see tracks 1 and 3 can be driven on with 140km/h. The other two tracks (for Sprinters that stop at Campus) will come together via 80km/h switches after Delft Campus. 11:15 Delft Zuid overloopwissels The line between Delft Campus and Schiedam has also changed. We have a full set of new light signals installed by ProRail. 13:16 New Speed Limits And there speed limits just before Schiedam have also been changed. We can now drive longer on higher speed than in the old situation. 14:20 Schiedam Goederen aansluiting The freight connection is now under construction. Before the end of the year the full set of four tracks will be available for trains again. As off that moment we can also add extra trains to the normal train schedule. 14:43 Schiedam Centrum The tracks on the right are under construction until Rotterdam. 18:14 Spoorbrug Delfshavense Schie 18:30 Delfshavense Schie aansluiting Connecting line towards Gouda bending away on the left. 18:47 Rotterdam Centraal Arriving at this video's destination.
