DJI Focus Pro: Rigging Issues and How to Avoid Them

Early reviews of the DJI Focus Pro Creator Combo miss to address some of the challenges in using the Lidar with on-camera microphones and matte boxes. This video introduces some solutions to these problems and explores some quirks specific to rigging the Creator Combo on a Blackmagic camera and larger Irix lenses. The DJI Focus Pro Creator Combo revolutionizes filmmaking for solo operators, enabling the use of autofocus with manual cine lenses and cameras that lack (useable) autofocus. *Edit in light of a viewer's comment: Beware that the DJI Focus Pro system was not designed to work with autofocus photography lenses, which often lack hard stops. My video refers to manual lenses (meaning lenses that lack autofocus and have hard stops). I wouldn't recommend photo lenses anyway, at least not for Blackmagic cameras, as these lenses often require camera support for linear focus throw. Using a Blackmagic Cinema Camera, you won't have that support from the camera's side, so the focus throw is finicky at best. Manual focusing with an L-Mount Lumix lens on a Blackmagic camera, for example, is more challenging than using that same lens manually on an L-Mount Lumix S5ii. My tip: Just get proper cine glass. 0:00 Intro 1:20 Pros 2:20 Cons 3:04 Microphone problems 4:29 Focal plane mark 5:17 Lidar placement below lens 5:39 Matte box challenges 7:34 Lidar placement consequences 9:14 Mounting Lidar on top 10:44 Lidar with Tilta cage and BM battery grip 11:23 Switching motor sides issues 12:35 Why I chose the DJI Focus Pro Creator Combo --------------------- Music used in this video: Description: English: Thus Spoke Zarathustra, tone poem by Richard Strauss.
