Wiyawi is a traditional Kalinga lullaby sung by caretakers to a baby, describing warm weather that makes the baby cry. Its music and text were collected by Dr. Felicidad Prudente during her fieldwork in Buaya, Kalinga and transcribed for publication in the book Antukin by Tahanan Books for Young Readers. In some areas, the lullaby refers to the warmth given by the traditional babywearing, interpreting the lyrics as “Tahan na, halika't ebanan (babywear) kita para mainitan ka.” (Additional Information by Carla Ocampo and Benicio Sokkong.) Journey with a father and child as they go into a fantastical dream of Higantes and beaches and running on sand to escape reality for a moment of peace. Based on Felicidad A. Prudente’s field research in the Buaya Region of Balbalan, Kalinga deposited in the UP Center for Ethnomusicology, published in Antukin: Philippine Folk Songs and Lullabyes by Tahanan Books for Young Readers, 1998.
