Have you ever seen an antique at the store that you’d love to own, but it’s a bit too rusted to be worth spending money on? Don’t let that stop you. In this video, you’ll learn how to restore an antique figure – specifically, a cast-iron golfer statue. This statue from the mid-1900s was covered in rust. Step one to getting it back to its former glory is dousing it in paint stripper and using a paintbrush to get it into all the nooks and crannies of the figurine. Be sure to wear gloves and do this on a cutting board for safety. Next, grab a coarse brush and begin scrubbing off any excess paint, dirt, and rust where possible. Once that’s done, it’s time to sand and polish. This should get more of the rust off the statue. After that’s completed, brush the statue with acetone. Prime the statue with white spray paint. Then, using a small brush, start painting the details of the statue, bringing it back to life with color. This cast iron antique from the mid-1900s is now back to its former glory. Try this on any rusted decor you may have at home, or the unique treasures you find at the second-hand store. Find out more information at https://bit.ly/2ViruqS #engineering
