PCL Raises the Roof on BMO Field

Go behind the scenes of BMO Field’s Phase 2 Expansion with PCL Senior Project Manager Neil Barrows to watch a 600-ton crane lift roof sections into place, and learn about the complex engineering and planning involved in creating a new stadium within an existing structure. The massive roof trusses will be supported by four super-columns constructed in each corner of the stadium. The super-columns have been engineered to plug into bedrock using a system of micro piles drilled 7 meters into the ground. The east and west roof canopies are being built on-site in sections, and the south canopy will be assembled on site as one massive structure, to be lifted into position by the 600-ton and 450-ton crane.
