This marks the first birth of a gorilla in nearly ten years at the Kerkrade NL, and it's an endangered western lowland gorilla. The father of this baby gorilla, Lomako, arrived in Kerkrade in the spring of 2022. He took over the leadership role after the passing of Makula, who died in June 2021. This is Lomako's first offspring. As for the mother, Tamidol, this is her second baby.
