I always had mixed feelings about playing EWI in a Jazz context, that is until I heard John Swana. I had the privilege to study with John briefly back in 2008 at Temple University as an exchange student when I first heard the potential of using the EWI (or in John's case the EVI) as a tool to extend the Jazz language, creating new 'habits' to your playing.
