Product review: The Olivia Rolling Mill by Durston - FREE Estona Tutorial

Wow. Just wow. This rolling mill truly is a gamechanger. ‪@DurstonTools‬ designed a whole new machine. If you have watched my previous tutorials you know that I already had a Durston rolling mill. But this one... Instead of a handle that you rotate on the side of the rolling mill, the Olivia has a wheel on the front of the mill. So you can use this machine while standing up or sitting down. Big plus! Second big plus: I can offer you a 10% discount code for this wonderful mill (and all of their other products). If you are planning to buy a Durston product, feel free to use my affliate link: durston.com/estona AND add the discount code estona10 you will receive a whopping 10% discount on your order. If you have used a rolling mill before, than you know that sometimes you have to apply quite a bit of force while rotating a big handle. Not very ergonomical but that's just the way it WAS. Because with the Olivia, the wheel changes everything. And believe me, I have put her to the test. I used it while normally I would have annealed, and skipped a couple of steps while rolling just to see if she could take the heat. And she can, it's a wonderful machine! You can see in my video how easy it was to operate. The Olivia has a 50 to 1 ratio, which means that you have to turn the wheel 50 times to get the rolling mills to turn once. That didn't seem like a plus at all, so I was very curious to see how this would work in reality. And that is where the big secret of the Olivia lies. There is something going on inside of the gearbox of this rolling mill which makes no sence to me at all. Rolling is so much easier. You barely have to apply any pressure and you can just give the wheel a spin. It is so much easier this way. So even though you have to turn the wheel more often, it is costing you way less effort. Your milling is way more constant and the result is super sharp. I just love it! Please keep in mind that even though I have been gifted this rolling mill by Durston Tools, that I am not being paid in any way to promote them or their product. It is an honest exchange, my opinion in a product review video in exchange for their tool. So I have done my best to be critical, but there just isn't anything to be critical about in this case. I am a Durston fan and I just love their products. OVER 100 METALSMITHING TUTORIALS (INCL. A COMPLETE BEGINNERS COURSE): Metalsmithing can be so much fun.
