2024 Point Pinos Seawatch Volunteer Docent training

The Point Pinos Seawatch program is the only land-based seabird census on the whole west coast! Due to the unique geography of Monterey Bay, Monterey Audubon is able to count migrating seabirds as they fly south past Point Pinos in Pacific Grove. Our seabird count runs from November 1 - December 15, with a professional seabird counter present every day from dawn to dusk. Their task is a challenging one, but they are aided by the presence of knowledgeable volunteers who can help with public outreach, educating on topics ranging from MPAs to birds to where is the closest bathroom.
