Zebrahub: A New View of Developmental Biology

Understanding how a single cell develops into an entire body – whether it’s a fish, a fruit fly, or a human – is one of biology’s biggest mysteries. Researchers at CZ Biohub San Francisco have created Zebrahub, a free time-resolved, multidimensional atlas of vertebrate development using zebrafish as a model organism. In this video, scientists Loïc Royer and Merlin Lange explain why they study zebrafish, why they built their own light-sheet microscopes, and how Zebrahub allows biologists to study development in ways they never have before.
