This video depicts modification to my original dust collection system for my DeWalt 745 Contractor Table Saw. Main Idea or System: The overarching idea for my system is a top of the table saw over arm dust collector with a separate vacuum source. This is supplemented with a high vacuum suction connected to the dust collector port in the back of the table saw. Source of Ideas: I created my system based upon looking at several others on YouTube: namely Dan Pattison, Justin Depew and the Saw Stop table top dust collection system. I’ve now revised and extended my system with my own ideas and am happy to report that it works to collect in excess of 95% of all dust. I later discovered that DeWalt’s latest contractor saw (model #DWE7845) has implemented the “under the table” collection method that I use. Dust Collection System (2 main elements) 1) Table Top Dust Collection (demonstrate how it is made) a. 1 inch square aluminum arm with drop down and adjustable dust vacuum device attached to a hose attached to a shop vacuum b. The arm pivots out of the way when necessary (using other jigs or ripping narrow pieces) c. The collector is detachable for ease of use. d. The collector has a drop down side piece of Plexiglas that captures dust when ripping slivers off e. This sucks in the remainder of the dust which the Dust Port misses 2) Dust Port Collection (turn over the saw and look underneath) a. 4 inch hose connected to Rockland Vacuum Bag system b. Underside of table saw has plastic sheet pieces duct tapped to saw bottom (this system (with mounted flexible canvass like material) was implemented on DeWalt’s latest contractor saw (model #DWE7845) 3) Total Dust Reduction a. My guesstimate is 95% (talk about) Demonstration 1) This system works where the Saw Stop system misses collecting the dust for the narrow cut off pieces.
