Castle Lake is a small, gorgeous lake up in Northern California near the town of Mt. Shasta. This lake features super clear water and some feisty, but small Rainbow Trout, as well as a few Brook Trout. Castle Lake is perfect for Kayak Fishing as most boats with motors will have a difficult time negotiating the "boat ramp". I set out to fish this lake on Labor Day weekend and when I initially arrived it was packed with swimmers, hikers, paddleboarders, and picnickers. So I left and came back later in the evening and it was much quieter and more my speed.
