Claire Brock is joined by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to react to new figures of hospital overcrowding. David Cullinane TD, has said that the government’s failure to tackle hospital overcrowding has set a new record this morning with 669 patients on trolleys. When asked about hospital overcrowding Donnelly tells Claire, "it's not acceptable in a modern country. We are a modern wealthy country and this has to end." The Minister tells Claire the reason why the figures have risen so high is due to the people still being treated for Covid, "400 to 500 patients every day." He admits the Health care system does need to "modernise." Stephen Donnelly states that there is a 'winter plan' whereby he plans to hire 600 more people which is "going fine."
