This past June, the School of Music at the University of Illinois announced that the Jupiter String Quartet would replace the Pacifica Quartet as their new string quartet-in-residence. The Jupiter Quartet will give their inaugural performance in our community to kick off the Allerton Music Barn Festival in Monticello Thursday night, and we're pleased to introduce them to you on this edition of "Live and Local." Featured here is the 4th movement of the String Quartet by Maurice Ravel. The members of the quartet are, from left, violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, cellist Daniel McDonough and violist Liz Freivogel. Live and Local is heard weekdays from noon to 1 pm on WILL FM 90.9. Kevin keeps you informed about local music performances by performers both local and national. The program includes interviews with the artists, as well as educators, students, administrators and audience members. You'll hear features on the many performing groups throughout our listening area, a daily calendar of music events, and (of course!) lots of music.
