Abandoned 16th century mansion (Lipsius Mansion Overijse)
The still standing Mansion of Justus Lipsius in Overijse, Belgium. Its a key milestone in the long story of Overijse. Lipsius was a philosopher, a historian and a great figure in the dawn of Overijse's history. This house, built by his father in 1548 was one of the first mansions in the region, where today my crowded suburban town lays. His home along with the mansions garden was made an official landmark in 1975 by the Overijse local authorities. The garden serves as a public park, and the mansion was in close down for years until now. Even though the place is public it doesn't seem to be very well known by the inhabitants of the town.
