Making parts for an RC airplane from Carbon Fiber can be done multiple ways. In this short I show how I used 3D prints to create mold patterns. I chose to use Touch PLA by Matterhackers @MatterHackers to print the the rudder mold using the @Raise3D Pro 2 3D printer. The 2x2 Twill Carbon fiber was sourced from @fibreglast and made for a nice light final part. The ribs were printed from NylonX also from Matterhackers for its strength to weight ratio and dimensional stability over a large range of temperatures. I'm not sponsored by or received any products from any of these companies. The total print time for this was roughly 60 hours in order to print both halves which were split into 4 pieces so that they could fit in the build chamber. From print, to joining, sanding, priming, painting to install it took a total of 6 days. See my website for more photos here. https://www.rccad2vr.com/l-1011-model...
