Now we are going to calculate shims required for shaft alignment . In shaft alignment require shims to be removed but shims are not under the base plate before than you have to raise stationary unit up and align the piping etc again to prevent stress from misaligned piping . Simple example is suppose you need to remove .2 mm from front support and .4 mm from back support so you can add .4 mm shim on all supports under stationary unit and movable unit and than you can remove .2 mm from front support and .4 mm from back support . As i told before you will come across many such problems when you perform shaft alignment which you can solve by yourself by practical experience.
