The Third Féile 'Trip To Tipp' Music Festival, Ireland 1993

Little trouble at Féile ’93 as thousands of young people enjoy a weekend of live music in Thurles. Most of the 50,000 fans are staying at the campsite on the Thurles racecourse for the weekend. Despite security on the site, many people have reported the theft of money and belongings after their tents were slashed while they slept. Gardaí say 23 people have been arrested for theft and 19 others for drug offences. In Tipperary, they like to think of it as the home of hurling. This weekend, it’s home to the biggest rock festival in Europe. Irish band The Four of Us were a big hit at today’s concert and headliners INXS are expected to attract around 40,000 people to Semple Stadium. Among the acts appearing over the three day event are Iggy Pop, Manic Street Preachers, Spiritualized, and Madness. Irish performers on the bill include Therapy?, Chris de Burgh, A House, The Frank and Walters, That Petrol Emotion, The Golden Horde, Mary Black, The Sultans of Ping, Something Happens, The Cranberries, and Whipping Boy.
